This work is divided into two main sections, 'My Body' and 'My Sister's Body', which are placed on a 4 metre long bedspring. The two bodies are ostensibly connected by illness, but are expressed in different ways. The pain, suffering and worries that my sister confided in me about her illness were written down, word by word, with a 3D printing pen and moulded into her body. The bed is supposed to be a place of relaxation, but because of my illness, I toss and turn in bed every night, hoping that others will understand my pain, but the silent me is too shy to talk about it. So for 'My Body', I used glow-in-the-dark mixed media to create a work where only in the darkness could I see my struggle and endurance. The scattering of materials around the body represents not only the constant flakes that people with this skin condition are likely to shed, the trivial and continuous pain that plagues us, but also the gradual healing of the condition and the gradual disappearance of the 'shell'.
